Scarlet's Poetry
Den
"The Early Years" |
The
Beloved
(Listen
to the poem in RealAudio G2)
brush and brush and
brush
hair knotted
writhes on the
pillow
we lay
hair knotted
in your fingers
marionette I dance
on tables
where cups
jerked by laughter
spilt tea
every paean
doomed to echo between my
ears
when you're nowhere
I know
how to describe
bursting empty/
lead balloons
how to let you know
I love another
yet another
how to let you know
I love forever

Flash Forward 20 Years:
"So, who'd you write this one
for?" he asked, barely masking his irritation.
"Hmmmmm...." she thought aloud, trying to you recall.
"You wrote it for Joe, didn't you!"
"No, I never wrote a poem for Joe."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"So, who'd you write it for then?"
"Dunno." she said, drawing a blank.
"Can't remember. I honestly don't recall."
