"Litany of Scars - Notes to a Missing Lover" |
Within
the Horizon
(Listen
to the poem in RealAudio G2)
within the horizon
catastrophes occur
with soap opera
precision
somewhat like a
mythology
an old woman sobs
into the
handkerchief
brandished since Eden
ocean - tempestuous
cesspool
of those tears
over which I am
suspended
puppet of my umbilical
cord
like some curious
Arachne
watching watching
each detail pieced into the
sky-puzzle
that old woman
distinctly resembles my
grandmothers
who died crossing the
plains
Rorschach image
ever-renewed in mountains and
clouds
spectres of The
Fates
multiply before my
eyes
swirl in some timeless ritual
arabesque
aged Eve
weary Earth
dusty Luna
is it true I am your
sorrow?
why was I picked
to enter your grim
sorority
on this strange
globe?
