"The Early Years" |
The Mirror has Shattered
(Listen
to the poem in RealAudio G2)
The mirror has shattered.
It cannot lie
to me any longer for I know its secrets.
I am not a rat.
I will not let the scientists of chaos
scramble me in the concrete maze.
I am not a mouse.
The traps' radioactive bait makes me vomit.
I am not Pavlov's dog.
I do not salivate for plastic.
I am Scarlet.
I dance the music of the spheres.
If you love me, it is because I am free.
If you hate me, it is because I am free.
