Scarlet's Poetry
Den
"CyberSeries" |
Objects of
Affection
with hexadecimals and strings of
code
dancing round in my
head
my thoughts often drift to you
instead
coffee pots and java
beans
real life and computer
screens
a struggle to understand what it
all really
means
I touch my computer like a
lover
intimate with its every nuance, I
rediscover
my soul in the poems I craft, one
after
another
I have learned the computer code
for my
art,
realized the art of coding is also
part
of the complexities of my
heart
I know I often confuse
emotions
with Boolean statements and
equations
If, Then, Else, Or - and other
conditions
I have tried to program
unconditionally
tried to love the same way,
passionately
both seem to go round and round
infinitely
in great erratic careening
swoops
controlled by demons, wizards, sniffers,
snoops
fatal errors, divide by zero
loops
so many secrets, signs and hidden
codes
rules, switches, contacts, power
surges and
reloads
take us daily down very divergent
roads
I launch into deep thought and
cyberspace
you go to a very different time and
place
such very diverse worlds we both
face
nonetheless, we always manage to
find each
other
my work aside, again, you become
my lover
I return to being your wife, and
our children's
mother
with my beloved computer out of
view
I rediscover the wonder of us and
renew
my joys being with the great,
unprogrammable you
