What?

what poem can I write for you?
one that's never been written before

how can I find the voice
that speaks to you, and only you

because you, and only you
have become my life
my reason for breathing
my reason for surpassing mere existence

the thought of our unborn child
which will be a miracle for both of us
a child borne of total love
part of me whispers I am too old for this
another part says I'm entirely too young
to understand the magnitude
of the gift the universe, and you, will bring me

I did not understand love
until I met you

I did not understand a lot of things
you make it easy
to see what I've been lacking

so, whenever I can, I will be

yours
